for sale is my father’s bmw e60 550i m sport. This is a very rare car, rarer in fact than the e60 m5 and there are hardly any others for sale.
it is a very high specification example finished in carbon black with individual ecru comfort leather.
he has owned this car for three years, and prior to this he had an individual e39 sport for over 10 years. He is only selling as he has upgraded to an alpina b5, and this is now surplus to requirements.
when new, given that it is a 550i m sport and with all the factory upgrades, this car would have been over £60k!

this is not your typical or average e60. the main thing which makes this car stand out compared to 530d, 535d, 530i, 540i and other, more common e60s is the phenomenal 4. 8 litre v8 engine which lurks under the bonnet:
n62b48 / 4799cc / v8 / 32 valve / 367 bhp / 490 nm torque / 30+ mpg
mechanically sound. Always starts first turn of the key and settles down to the correct idle. There are no fluid leaks. There is no overheating. Uses no excess oil, coolant or any other fluids.
the car pulls well and hard throughout the entire rev range, with no power loss or hesitation. It has only covered 92k miles, so it is not even running in for a big v8! noise from lower belt pulley when engine is idling, but does not affect the way it runs in any way.
this is a very fast car. I had an e39 m5 a couple of years ago, and this had no problem in keeping up. It leaves my current e55 amg behind as well. In-gear pick-up is very impressive, as is off the line acceleration. It is also very happy to potter around at low speeds.
not too bad on fuel either for such a large engine. On a run, it easily returns 30+mpg.
it has been serviced regularly during our ownership by autowerx service in milton keynes, a well-respected bmw specialist that looks after all our cars.

it had a major / inspection 2 service in may 2021, with the following work carried out:
oil, oil filter, air filter, cabin filter, spark plugs x 8
will come with a years mot for the new owner.
fitted with a long life back box exhaust when we first got the car. So it sounds epic when accelerating and on full chat. But is perfectly docile and quite when pottering along.
the gearbox is spot on and changes through the ratios as it should. Sport and manual modes work fine and it pulls well in every gear.
the previous owner fitted bilstein suspension, so it gives an even sportier yet compliant ride. Sits lower. It hugs the road like it is on rails and it is a lot of fun to drive in the back roads. Also a pleasure for longer motorway journeys. There is a light knocking sound on the front over uneven road surfaces, which sounds like a bush or anti-roll bar link.
brakes are good and strong. They stop the car well from speed, and there is no pulling or major shuddering. Brake fluid was changed in 2018 when we got the car. Brake pipes replaced in 2019.
all four tyres were replaced when we purchased the car, and it has a set of matching kumho ecsta ps91 tyres all round in the correct fitment.
it is in good overall condition for the year, with marks, blemishes and stone chips as to be expected. A few dents on some of the door panels. There is no rust or rot. The lacquer has peeled in a few places on the bonnet and front bumper and there is a light scuff on the rear one. The alloys have a few kerb marks. Damaged repaired at some point in its life as cat c (you cannot tell). it is not new or perfect, but in decent condition and still looks imposing and purposeful. It turns heads wherever it goes.
the interior is in very good order. There are no rips or tears. There is slight wear on the driver’s seat bolster. And a mark / patch on the rear seat where something was spilt by the previous owner. Everything is solid and in one piece. The cabin is well appointed, luxurious whilst retaining a sporty feel.
the ecru comfort leather is perfectly complimented by the piano black trim – it really looks classy and opulent. The glass sunroof gives it a nice and airy feel, letting more light into the cabin. The seats are sporty, comfortable and very supportive. Being equipped with the comfort package, these can be adjusted in a multitude of directions, along with memory settings.
everything works as it should. There are no warning lights on the dashboard cluster. Air con would benefit from a re-gas.

it has a printout from bmw showing it was serviced by main dealers in uk mainland and in belfast up until 2015. this supports the fact it has full service history and the car has been well looked after.
to conclude then, this is a good example of a low mileage bmw sports saloon. Not many of these were made, and being a big naturally aspirated v8 engine and an m sport, it is a very sought after car. Don’t waste your time or mine with silly offers – we all know how much these are worth and that you won’t find another one any time soon.
