For sale is my beloved Mazda MX5 MK1 1997, 1. 6l in red. I am sure I will come to regret it but the reason for sale is that I am at university and simply cannot afford to give the car the love it deserves. The car has 3 previous owners, two of which were woman and the other a classic car enthusiast. The car sits on 139, XXX miles and will rise slightly as in daily use still.
This car is immaculate inside and out, has had no expense spared whatsoever and has always been thoroughly taken care for by true enthusiast owners. It has had very regular oil and fluid changes and does not skip a beat; it has served me well and never given a single issue. There is an entire folder of paperwork and documents for everything spent on it, all parts, labour etc dating back to the day it was bought including original owner’s manual.
It has zero rust on the arches and sills, having both been professionally restored and replaced earlier this year and now has a full 350+ days MOT. All seatbelt anchorage points, chassis rails and boot are in perfect condition. The paintwork is in brill condition for age with only a few slight nicks around as you’d expect. All four tyres have full tread on them with the wheels in great condition too. The roof is totally leak free, no rips, tears, holes or anything of the sort.
The car has had a lot of care in its time including new cam belt, water pump, clutch and right before the MOT a few weeks ago a brand new OEM Cat.
The interior is in perfect condition, it has been cleaned and detailed regularly, I have always used seat covers to avoid the bolsters being worn out at all. Roof clips aren’t worn out whatsoever, AC works great, overall extremely clean inside.
The car is overall fairly standard, I believe it has been lowered by a small amount in the past. It comes with a few extras for the right price such as the headlight scoop air intake. It has a small front splitter too. It still has the original spare wheel and jack in the boot also.
All cars have bad points and for this there are very few. The only things I can think to list are the fact that one of the brake discs will need replacing at some point, it isn’t urgent and doesn’t bother me but is slightly warped due to being at high heat as the car has been taken on some track days in the past. There is also a very tiny stone chip on the windscreen, almost unnoticeable and affects absolutely nothing but worth mentioning.
All in all this is an extremely clean and well looked after MK1 that I will be very sad to see go, I’d like it to go to someone who will properly look after it. Asking price is £2850 although I am open to sensible offers. Any questions please feel free to ask. Thanks for looking
