History:
After the Second World War, the production of Opels started slowly. In 1947 the Opel Olympia saw the light of day again, still according to the old, first, model but now with a 1500cc engine of 37 hp. Of these, there are still 3000 made.
In 1951 a renewed version was released, based on the pre-war model. The front was now, like that of the Opel Kapitän, heavily chromed. The fenders were changed and the spare wheel moved from the tailgate to the trunk. The engine produced an additional 5 hp. The four-speed floor shift gearbox was replaced by a three-speed gearbox with a lever on the steering wheel. This clearly showed the influence of parent company General Motors. This Olympia was also a great success.
The Opel Olympia was finally succeeded by the Opel Olympia Rekord in 1953, with largely the same technology in a modern pontoon body.
