Don’t just take my word for it, a quick google of the E36 M3 Evo, buying guides reveals:
Car Magazine describe the Evo’s engine as:
“The S50B32 is even more trick (than the previous 3. 0 litre) and features double VANOS, lighter pistons, graphite-coated conrods, larger inlet valves and a new Siemens MSS50 engine management system.
The compression ratio went up to 11. 3:1 and the engine broke the magic 100bhp-per-litre for a total of 321bhp at 7400rpm. Honestly, you’d need to be a real E30 zealot to choose the rabid little S14 over the sophisticated savagery of the S50. It’s a superstar.”
Classic Cars for Sale state:
“The E36 M3 is one of the ultimate Q-cars. The Evolution models are blisteringly quick, and the pre-Evolution cars aren’t slow either. Yet with the exception of trained BMW spotters, few will ever notice the difference between an M-car and a standard 318i. Show the chavs who’s boss with an M3, and they won’t know what’s hit ‘em – and on top of this understated performance is the fact that they’ll take four and a decent amount of luggage. Is the M3 all things to all men? Quite possibly – and the E36 is on the cusp of classicdom to boot.
Evo Buying Guide:
'Obviously the complete package was perfect. It had the power, the understatement, the comfort and the potential for everyday use.'
There is loads more online about the E36 M3, but the positivity around the classic BMW, as a drivers car, ownership proposition and also a potential investment is compelling.
Following the success (and subsequent sky rocketing prices of the E30 M3), the E36 M3 launched in 1992, with a 3. 0litre 6 cylinder engine and 5 speed gearbox. The later face lifted “Evo” model (like ours) arrived in 1995, along with the now legendary 3. 2 litre 321bhp, 6 clyinder engine and new 6 speed manual gear box. The M3 Evo engine being one of the first road car normally aspirated engines to produce over 100bhp per litre. The “Ultimate Drivers Car” achieving the 0-60mph sprint in just over 5 seconds and going onto a limited 155mph. Quick now, rocketship quick for the mid 90’s.
M3 SXG (the previous owner of 9 years assures me it SXG stands for “sex god”), the private plate valued at over £1000 comes with the car. It was first registered on 19/ 2/ 98, having covered a low 77, 409 miles. Our appreciating M3 has been owned as part of a private collection for the last 9 years, used sparingly and dry stored, inside, off the ground, on a hoist. We have just had it comprehensively recommissioned for the road, including service, MOT, lowering springs (25mm rear 15mm front) and a new mohair hood.
Our M3 Evo is presented in our view, the most classic colour combination of almost unmarked Estoril Blue Metallic (335), complimented by full Silver Grey (N5TT) Nappa leather interior, along with rare and desirable Vader seats.
Our iconic M3 comes with a comprehensive service history, in the original service book there are 14 service records, including the crucial running in service at 1, 283 miles. Its most recent service has just been completed independently for us at 77, 365 miles.
Its MOT history backs up its mileage as genuine, the most recent test was passed with no advisories and does not expire until 18/ 8/ 22. Every old MOT certificate dating back to its first test in 2001 are in the M3’s file.
The E46 M3’s original M “Staggered” alloys wheels (225/ 145/ 17 front and 245/ 40/ 17 rear), are beautifully un marked and sport matching Continental tyres with 7mm of tread front and rear.
Standard and safety equipment was comprehensive on the M3. Its comprehensive specification includes: power hood, 6 speed manual gearbox, driving / passenger air bags, roll over protection, ABS, “Vader” M Sport seats, service interval indicator, digital auto air conditioning, Bi-Xenon head lights, front and rear electric windows, heated / electric door mirrors, and on board computer with Multi Information Display.
The M3’s only non standard addition’s are, suspension springs mentioned above, a Milltek stainless steel exhaust (sounds great without being antisocial), and a Sony upgraded hi fi with aux input.
The rare E36 Evo comes with full book packs, including leather “M” wallet, original glove box torch, BMW warning triangle, tool kit, 1st aid kit, locking wheel nut key, original mats and 2 keys with 2 Toad remotes.
It will have an independent 90+ point pre delivery inspection, for the new owners benefit. It is of course HPI clear and a full HPI report will be available to potential purchasers.
Many thanks for wading through our lengthy description, we believe it’s better to describe our cars fully. It is not in our interest to waste your time or ours with inaccurate descriptions. It does of course have the odd age related imperfection (which used car doesn’t), but for its age and mileage it really is excellent. An appreciating car, for the serious enthusiast, collector and investor.
Our manual E36 M3 Evo, really does tick all the Quick and Big Ltd boxes, being great value, quick, well presented, well maintained, super rare, and rapidly appreciating in value.
The E30 M3 values have already gone stratospheric, good E36 M3 Evo’s values are already climbing. Don’t kick yourself in 10 years time that you didn’t buy it, (like I do every day about the 2 Sierra Cosworths I broke to build kit cars!)
