Beschreibung
Puch Frigerio 350 Safari HW. 1984 / 5, bike number 168, developed and manufactured by Luigi Frigerio for competition or road use.
The light weight competition version here has the minimal requirement lighting, no indicators or clocks (Acewell digital speedo fitted for legal requirements).
Frame designed and developed by Frigerio with rear ride height adjustment for different enduro stages.
Cycle parts are high end Italian specification for the time; WRA rear shock, Marzocci Forks, Brembo disc, and Akront wheels. Many of the original component supplier stickers are still present. I had the Frigerio tank decal remade in the original 80’s font, and the side panel decals I made up and have no historic connection. Puch Frigerio tank emblems are aftermarket purchases.
Rotax MT 348 engine- early 4 speed enduro ratio version and as a competition bike it runs without a balance shaft.
Later head and barrel is fitted, as it came to me supposedly as a Safari 500 but this was an ammeter conversion, and I have reverted back to the original spec 350. Bike has covered approx 800 miles since recommissioning.
Most spares are all easily found, because of the top brand equipment used.
The handle bar equipment and electrics are pretty much the same as Armstrong - but as the Armstrong was developed from an Italian SWM Tornado, originally made in Milan - just up the road from Frigerio, - this is unsurprising.
The two neat little oil coolers are a bit special.
Other neat original features include the Frigerio name cast into the rear brake plate and Puch brand cast into the sump bash plate.
Most service parts - brake pads, air filters, chain sprockets etc, are available from Andre Hovaths Enduro Klassiker. (- details above)
The bike is near Original, Rare, and Unusual; and engineered for 80’s competition by ex Gilera and Puch Works Rider Frigerio.
Easy starter, has been used on roads and easy green lanes, since recommissioning in 2013. Will be sold with MOT. Anyone who appreciates MT’s will appreciate this unusual, lightweight rare character of a machine.
