Extremely reluctant sale & probably the most original example of this rare Laverda model.
Owned by me since 1997 and covered just 1400 miles during that time.
It was delivered to Mike Waugh at Montydons in the winter of 2000, and returned, following a nut and bolt rebuild, in April 2001 – photographs of his detailed invoice are shown. Since the rebuild the bike has been in storage and has covered just 300 miles.
If you know about Laverda Montjuics, you will be aware that Mike was the undisputed expert on the model, and that he was very, very focused on ensuring that anything he worked on was absolutely spot on when returned to its owner.
To retain originality, I have resisted repainting the original orange paintwork but I would not blame anybody for giving it a respray, or touch up bits and pieces here and there (the black instruments are showing some age on their surrounds and there are some small scratches and marks on the paintwork - it is over 40 years old!). I personally like to retain some original patina and character. Overall, the bike is in fantastic condition for its age. The original fairing and sub frame (also powder coated) are included but were not been refitted following the rebuild.
Although there is no documentation to support it other than the MOT from 1997 showing 10, 185 miles at the time of purchase, a 1999 MOT showing 10, 478 and Mike's post rebuild MOT in 2002 showing 11, 292, the mileage is believed to be genuine.
Now registered as a Historic Vehicle the bike is exempt from MOT and Road Tax. The last MOT expired on July 1st 2021 (less than 40 miles since it was carried out in 2020).
Having been off the road for at least the past 17 years, it has been recommissioned with fresh oil, brake fluid and a carb rebuild. I have given it a couple of short runs locally to ensure everything is working, and do not believe any buyer would have a problem riding it away. I have also had the original clip-on bars re-chromed.
