THIS is my 1959 Austin A40 Farina deluxe. Mark 1s, with their wavy grille and perky 948cc engine, have become rare birds indeed these days and good ones are rarely offered for sale. This proud old girl screams originality at you as soon as you look at her. Clearly unrestored, I believe that the mileage is probably correct judging by all the tell-tale signs such as the original seats, door cards, dash, rear foldaway parcel shelf, untouched wheel arches and door bottoms and - happily - metal front wings! She is probably the liveliest A40 I have driven and that includes later models with the Morris Minor 1098cc engine. She has the feel of a fast revving classic race/ rally car and is super on the road.
The oldest MoT I can find in her history file is almost 20 years old and she had covered 23, 000 miles then. She is really sound, even in the spare wheel well. She may not gleam in the sunlight like a 63-year-old car fresh from the painter's oven, but she offers far more than surface looks with her originality, low miles, delightful interior and driveability. Note, she is the Mark 1 deluxe model recognisable by opening rear windows and over-riders on the bumpers. See, all that time spend with my I-Spy Books of Cars back in the late 50s and early 60s was not wasted!
The classic cars I sell are motoring antiques. There may be a few dozen left of any one model, maybe more and maybe less. Most of them had lives that lasted anywhere between three and seven years (on average). Today's classics are all rare. They have survived. Please do not come and look at one of my cars from the 30s, 40s or 50s and point out some blemishes. Do the maths and work out their ages. If these ancient motor cars are not your cup of tea then please don't make an appointment and come and insult them. Buy a three-year-old BMW if that is your thing. Some are restored to a huge degree; some have never been touched and remain original with warts and all. No two will ever be the same. They are not in a showroom "bulled up" for your perusal. I pride myself on being able to find different and interesting - to me at any rate - classic cars and then finding new homes for them. Understand that and we shall all get on very well indeed. I can also assist with delivery and so please ask for a quote. Many thanks. Martin. the details below).
