- Offered for an appreciating new owner is this rare classic 1983 BMW 320i two-door sedan.
Finished in what appears to be the original Lapisblau paint over tan vinyl, this nearly forty year-old E21-chassis Bimmer was recently acquired from a mature lady owner who purchased it back in 1989.
- The NON-working odometer shows just over 193, 200 with the estimated mileage being about 5, 000 additional miles.
- This CALIFORNIA BLUE LICENSE PLATE gem sports a great running four cylinder engine mated to the factory 3 speed automatic transmission.
- Other features include manual sunroof, 13" Aplina-style alloy wheels, Blaupunkt stereo, fog lights, original owner's manual, reclining seats and more. This gem is being sold with clean and clear California title.
THE BODY AND TRIM
- The exterior of this 1983 BMW is in good to 99. 99% rust-free condition overall with a nice gleam to the Lapisblau paint finish while scoring a solid A- for originality. There is a sizeable dimpled and touched up area on the previously-dented left rear quarter, a smaller dimpled area on the right rear quarter, several dents and faded creases on the hood along with various nicks, scratches and some fading on the aluminum bumper surfaces and alloy wheels and the tires need replacement. While certainly not a concourse show car, this tidy little classic BMW will certainly be a hit at local car shows.
THE INTERIOR
As I hope is clearly articulated in the photos here, the cockpit of this 320i is in quite nice very original condition with working gauges [except the odometer], good original vinyl upholstery with a driver seat that would benefit from new padding on the bottom, lightly cracked dash, nice original carpets and door panels with some expected wear on the interior trim bits including a couple of small tears on the original headliner vinyl.
- Overall this is a nice specimen of an unmolested example with working period-correct Blaupunkt radio, heater fan and AC!
THE DRIVING EXPERIENCE
This '83 E21 sedan starts perfectly and runs well with solid acceleration, smooth shifting transmission, tight suspension with smooth unassisted steering, confident braking and crisp classic car handling.
- Nearly forty years later this is still a satisfying little driving machine!
