History
To fill the uncovered price segment between the 356 still in production and the 911, Porsche launched the 912 model on the market in 1965, a cheaper and at the same time much less powerful version of the 911, aesthetically and technically almost identical.
Compared to its older sister, the 912 retained the coupé bodywork (since 1966 also the Targa) and the entire mechanics, with the exception of the engine, which here is an air-cooled 4-cylinder boxer of 1584 cm³ from the latest Porsche 356 SC. Performance was decidedly modest, but low fuel consumption compensated for the more Spartan engine. The interior is also simplified compared to the 911.
Thanks to the substantial aesthetic identity with its older 6-cylinder sister and the significantly lower list price, the 912 enjoyed great commercial success, especially in the United States. Its production ceased at the end of 1969 to make way for the 914, although in 1976 a small series of 912 E was produced for the North American market with a 2-liter 4-cylinder boxer engine (of Volkswagen origin) with 86 HP injection.

The restoration, carried out by the last owner according to factory specifications, had the aim of restoring the car to the best conditions and in full respect of the originality of its parts. The car has been completely repainted in its original Bahama Yellow color, as well as the interior, restored to original specifications. The engine has been restored with criteria of excellence, in full compliance with the original components and is capable of delivering all the 90 HP it is equipped with.
