Description
For sale my green lane Ariel 500 twin, the frame is from 1954 with a slightly later engine. Viewers will note this is not a standard bike, the frame has been modified with brackets removed and the rear mudguard supports cut off. The engine has been modified to accept a Triumph end crank oil feed and the white metal bearing removed to be replaced with a ball bearing. This modification is completely successful, making the engine extremely smooth and free reving. I have ridden the bike many miles including the VMCC White Horse trial and Felix Burk on two occasions as well as plenty of road miles. I have recently replaced the front fork stanchions and bushes, I give the bike regular oil changes and replacement of the cartridge type oil filter.
When I first purchased this machine I had the magneto overhauled, fitted a new old stock advance unit and new Amal Monoblock carburettor all to ensure reliability. This bike is quite quick and great fun to ride, starts always first kick. I am selling it because I have got just too many bikes.
