Description
A very original and unmolested example of a rare aluminium coachbuilt convertible with dickey seat.
Fitted from new with an attractive coachbuilt drophead ‘Doctors’ Coupe body with dickey seat by Martin Walter of Folkstone. Retains its original fold out luggage rack.
A change in circumstances means it must come out of storage and be offered for sale. With some fresh fuel and a new battery the car started easily and drove faultlessly on the short drive to take some photographs. (video of car running/ driving available on request)
Engine is smooth, quiet and smoke free. The revolutionary Daimler fluid flywheel and Wilson pre-selector gearbox operate as expected and make for an easy and relaxing driving experience. The car steers well and the brakes pull up well and true.
Of course with a car of this age there are areas that could be improved and we hope these areas are portrayed accurately in the photographs - the hood frame has suffered and will require some woodwork, the paint is not perfect and the wiring could be tidied up in areas. A solid honest car that could be improved to your own taste or used as is with very light recommissioning and servicing.
The car features in the book ‘The Lanchester Legacy’ by marque expert Chris Clarke and is well known to the club.
In sound running and nicely patinated condition this is a rare and attractive example of this quality marque.
Viewing near Cirencester is welcomed and encouraged to truly appreciate this honest little car. Happy to answer any questions. Thank you for viewing.
