Reduced Price! The Meteor Minor Sport is an undeniably handsome machine. This example is certified by the RE Owners club as having been despatched to Robertson's of Alloa on December 10th 1959. The Meteor Minor benefits from the massively strong Constellation bottom end, making for a surprisingly lively, smooth and durable 500 sports twin. This one is an older but very usable renovation. The engine starts easily and pulls well. A cruising speed of 60mph is not unrealistic. The clutch is pleasantly light and the Albion gearbox fitted to this example offers a clean crisp gear-change.
The fuel tank and side panels appear to have been professionally painted in RE metallic red. There is however the odd chip.
The front brake is the standard RE 7inch unit, considered good in its day. The performance of the rear is acceptable. Chrome on the wheels is good for the age of the bike. The speedometer works and has a re-settable trip meter. The odometer indicates just over 39, 000 miles a figure that could be accurate.
