History of this car
This SM, with chassis designation type OOSC is a 2. 7lt fuel-injected model from the second month of Injection Electronique production in October 1972, and was supplied new to Italy, by Citroen dealers Autosalone in Teramo, Abruzzo.
As an injected model, it is more powerful than the carburettor version, and in today’s congested world the Bosch injection offers easier starting, smoother running and none of the vapour lock than can afflict the Weber carburettor car.
Our car was imported into the UK from Italy by specialist Classics & Cabriolets in 2005. It has had three owners here who have transformed an already excellent example into a truly usable car in today’s taxing environment. The works specification includes:
Rebuilt engine with all modifications

All works have been conducted by specialists including Brodie Engineering and exotic car workshop SMDG, and the plump history file accompanying the car evidences over £30, 000 spent on the upkeep of this amazing SM since 2005.
Body
Being a dry, ex southern Italian car the body and chassis of our example is rock solid and she wears a high quality paint job in the original sand metallic hue. This car looks superb and makes the strongest of first impressions; panel fit and body contours are all nicely aligned and there are no blemishes to speak of.
The glass and all lenses are in excellent, scratch and chip free condition, and the stainless trim is all complete and in good order.
Mechanics
On our 100 mile test drive using a mixture of town and motorway roads the car performed without fault.
The engine sounds fantastic and is noticeably sharper than a carburettor car.
The engine has about 15, 000 miles since it was rebuilt by Brodie Engineering including key upgrades such as the SS valve conversion. At the same time, the clutch was replaced and the oil cooler lines renewed with braided replacements.
Whilst air conditioning was standard on the SM, the majority of cars in use today have it disconnected or it just doesn’t work. Our car has a modern style rotary type compressor fitted offering new car comfort. The system has just been serviced and re-gassed (February 2022).
To facilitate problem free town usage, our car also has an uprated alternator.
Within the last 6000 miles, technicians at SMDG have overhauled the entire fuel system with the tank being being cleaned and all new hoses fitted, injectors and pump all serviced. At the same time, they overhauled the braking system and replaced the drive shafts (invoice £6334 on file). The car was also at SMDG in 2014 for servicing (invoice £781 on file) in 2013 for servicing work (invoice £2502 on file) and in 2012 for a major service (invoice £3372 on file).
The ignition system has just been upgraded by Brodie’s with Lumenition electronic ignition fitted together with the recommended coil relocation performed, and a pre-sale service was completed at the same time (February 2022).
The tyres fitted are all OE correct Michelin XWX with plenty of tread.
This car has wanted for nothing in maintenance and in total 36 invoices are on file relating to mechanical works since importation in 2005, totalling £30, 000.
Interior
Our car was professionally retrimmed in 2006 in a beautiful soft light tan coloured leather to the seats and door cards. This looks and feels fabulous and is very comfortable. The carpets and headlining are the originals and in good undamaged condition.
The fresh looking dashboard again is undamaged and our car is fitted with an after market radio/ stereo.
Boot
Good clean condition with original felt covering and spare wheel in place.
Summary
It’s not often we get to offer an SM of this quality in terms of both condition and the comprehensive upgrades made to optimise its usability; plus, of course, the knock out cool colour. We strongly recommend it!
Supplied with two sets of original keys, supplying dealer key fob, good history file, owner’s manual and workshop manual set.
