History
Bought new from Isaac Agnews, Belfast by Save and Prosper Group on 12. 10. 92, as a retirement present for one of their employees, Ms Dawn Brown. This therefore made Ms Brown the second owner and the named owner up until a classic car enthusiast purchased the car a number of years ago, who maintained the car and had it regularly serviced. The timing belt was changed on 05. 08. 13 with 60, 275 miles.
The previous owner to myself purchased the car in March 2015, who enjoyed driving it daily throughout the summer. They replaced the fan belt, fuel pump and fuel filter pipe plus a few ancillaries.
All of the handbooks are preserved beautifully in the original grey VW folder and even has the same salesman card and key ring. The car still has the original dealer licence plates and dealer sticker. It has a distinctive Northern Ireland registration number.
Exterior
Finished in Alpine white, the paintwork still holds a great shine today. A few stone chips were previously touched up on the bonnet and the top half of the drivers side wing has seen paint. There are a few small chips that could be touched up. All arches and underside is solid, as is around the fuel cap. It has been fitted with clear front indicators and a rare eyebrow spoiler, which really set off the crisp monochrome look (eyebrow currently not fitted - see photo).
It has the original BBS RA’s which I have had refurbished. I have had a tow bar professionally fitted, which speaks for the condition of the underside, used to occasionally transport my trials bike.
Interior
The interior is entirely original and close to the same condition as the day it left the showroom. One little wear patch on the lower bolster on the drivers seat, smaller than a thumbnail, on otherwise perfect checked bucket seats. The dash is pristine and un-cracked. The digital clock has unfortunately bled over. Steering wheel, gear knob and hand break are as new with no wear at all. In the boot there is the complete original tool kit and space saver wheel. The original Blaupunkt radio comes with the car but is not currently fitted. It currently has a professionally fitted stereo system including Pioneer head unit, hands free microphone, sub, front speakers and tweeters.
Engine
The 1. 8 carb petrol engine runs well and is fun to drive. The automatic carb is working perfectly and starts instantly on cold or warm starts. Unfortunately some of the sound deadening under the bonnet has come away over the years.
I have had an alteration made by specialist to avoid the common issue on Scirocco Mk2’s of the clutch cable sheering on the bulkhead, so the clutch feels very smooth. I have had discs, pads and battery changed. It has had a full service in recent miles.
MOT until 12. 12. 23.
Specification
The GT2 was one of two of the last models of the MK2 Sciroccos along with the Scala. This had quite the trim level compared to previous models made, with factory fitted equipment such as electric windows, Blaupunkt Canberra CM-41 radio, tartan check racing seats, tinted windows, tilt and slide sunroof with draw blinds, colour coded body kit and bumpers, front fog lights, tinted tail lights and BBS alloys.
