EXTERIOR
Understated in the modern RS world the C5 RS6 Avant solidified Audi’s reputation as the definitive builder of fast estate cars. Initially similar to the standard A6 only keen observers would notice the RS6’s bespoke panels, with flared arches, deeper bumpers and lower side skirts giving the car a more aggressive demeanour.
Finished in a coat of Daytona Grey Pearl this RS6 Avant looks fantastic, with a deep shine produced by a heavy metallic flake in the factory paintwork and an additional ceramic coating treatment to help protect the bodywork. Overall condition is very good, with the bodywork pleasingly free from any major stone chips, whilst the black styling pack roof rails and window surrounds show free from any corrosion or fading.
INTERIOR
Matching the refined style of the bodywork the interior of the C5 RS6 is a perfect combination of luxury and performance. Recaro sports seats provide excellent support and cushioning for all occupants whilst the black Valcona leather shows in superb condition, with just some minor creasing to note. Running through the dashboard carbon fibre trim elevates the space and presents free from and discernible scratches of cracks.
In true Audi for this RS6 is filled with optional equipment including heated front + rear seats, BOSE audio, cruise control and Xenon headlights. Another nice feature is the upgraded RNS-E Audi Navigation Plus System, which features Bluetooth and Digital TV function, replacing the dated original head unit with a more modern OEM fit system taken from a later RS4.
ENGINE & TRANSMISSION
Underpinning the appeal of the C5 RS6 the 4. 2l Bi-turbo V8 is an incredible piece of engineering, providing tractable performance to launch this estate car to 60 mph in just 4. 4 seconds. Turn the key and the engine fires into a deep and meaningful V8 burble which, is further enhanced by a Milltek cat-back exhaust system. The 5-speed auto-box shifts smoothly and is perfect for long hauls; move the stick into semi-auto and the car transforms into a thorough driving pleasure with assistance of paddles for convenience of gear changes.
18 stamps and invoices from Audi main dealers outline a life of lavish care, as do the accompanying specialist invoices for regular gearbox servicing and further remedial work. This example all benefits from a MTM ECU upgrade courtesy of specialists QST which produces a healthy 495 bhp as shown by a dyno print out, however the standard software is available should the next owner wish to return the car to stock.
WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES
Completing the menacing exterior of the C5 are the 19” 5-spoke alloys which nicely fill the flared arches. Each corner fitted with premium Continental Sport Contact 6 tyres, with plenty of tread remaining all around. Brakes also show in good order, with new discs and pads fitted all around less than 2k miles ago.
Combating the often problematic DRC system the car has been fitted with adjustable Bilstein B16 suspension which was supplied, fitted and aligned by marque specialists QST.
HISTORY FILE
Registered new by Charles Audi, Crewe on 06/ 10/ 04 this beautiful C5 RS6 Avant was purchased by the 3rd and current owner in 2009 and has been serviced exclusively by Audi main dealers, with 16 stamps filling the original service book and an additional 2 service invoices, including the most recent service with Bromley Audi on 14/ 09/ 21 at 88, 676 miles.
Further significant work includes a cambelt change by Audi at 81, 899 miles and a gearbox service with specialists QST at 64, 731 miles. Other subtle enhancements commissioned by the cars long term enthusiast owner include an RNS-E Audi Navigation Plus System, Miltek Cat Back Exhaust, MTM ECU upgrade and Bilstein B16 Suspension to create make this one of the most well rounded, cared for C5 RS6’s on the road today.
