1978 Panther Lima Series 1, 60, 700 miles 2. 3 Litre
This was around the 300th car built by the factory (approx 600 Series 1 cars were built)
These cars were factory built by Panther Westwinds using a modified Vauxhall Magnum floor pan, 2. 3 engine and running gear. The front and rear body tub is fibreglass with a steel inner structure. The bonnet is also fibreglass. The doors are steel (actually MG Midget items!).
Despite all this Panthers are NOT kitcars, they are low volume production cars.
I have owned the car for 5 years. In that time it has had a full respray (taken right back to the gel coat) in original colour scheme. Chrome work has been rechromed or replaced where necessary (bumpers are actually Austin Maxi items).
The suspension has been removed, stripped, powder coated and rebuilt using polybushes, new bearings, ball joints etc.
The 2. 3 power plant has undergone a rebuild and now benefits from uprated gaskets, high pressure oil pump, Kent high lift cam, twin stromberg carburettors. Lumenition Optronic ignition system, electric fuel and fan conversions.
Custom made stainless steel exhaust system.
New braking system throughout.
Brand new carpet set and underlay. New door cards. Seats fully retrimmed in leather. The hood and tonneau cover where replaced by a previous owner, however would in the near future probably benefit replacing.
There are a large number of photographs included, documenting work carried out in my ownership. Car also comes complete with heritage certificate from the Panther Car Club along with a number of club magazines.
There are a number of spares included with the car (including a spare cylinder head, half shafts, lights & consumable items).
Obviously being 44 years old it is tax and mot exempt. However for buyers piece of mind it will be sold with full MOT (Expires June 2023)
