Beautiful vintage 1928 AJS K8 ‘Big Port’. Matching frame and engine numbers. Complete restoration in 2001, which is documented in magazine feature that accompanies the bike.
The AJS K8 was used for rallies over the years and is very well maintained. Paint is in very good condition all round, only one spot of crazing in the paint on the frame just beneath the carburettor. Plating is very good.
The engine is smooth with very good compression. The gears select freely. Powerful and fabulous sounding engine. Brakes are good considering their vintage. The whole bike feels “together”.
The AJS comes with the original Binks carburettor, also restored, but is currently fitted with an early 1930s Amal carb for ease of use.
André steering damper fitted. Bosch magdyno fitted with Bosch headlight.
This AJS K8 ‘Big Port’ needs nothing and is ready to use.
Current EU registration documents + original registration documents from the early 1930s. Also included are folders with documents, information etc relating to the restoration and AJS flat tankers in general.
