A collection of Sydenham Motor Club sterling silver race trophies awarded to E. C. Cornwell, 1928-1931,
comprising 1931 Mountain Mile Grand Prix Circuit 20 Mile Solo Championship Race Matchless Cup winner's twin-handled trophy, 30th August, 22cm high, and two winner's trophies in the form of Heralds on Winged wheels for the 1931 Mountain Mile Blackburne Race and 1931 Mountain Mile Visitors Solo Handicap Race, on 28th June and 30th August respectively, each 22cm high overall including base, each by Alexander Clark & Co. Ltd, hallmarked Birmingham 1931; together with other smaller motoring and motorcycling trophies for various club events awarded to Cornwell including 1931 Bat Club Race 600cc Solos (1st); 1931 Bert Smith Cup Race 350cc Solos (1st); 1930 Mountain Mile (2nd); 1930 Mountain Mile (3rd); 1931 Mountain Mile (2nd); Redhill & District M. C. C. 1928 5 Miles Race (2nd); L & D. M. C. 1930 Easter Grass Track; Archery Sporting M. C. C. 1930 Grass Track Meeting (1st); B. M. C. C. 1931 Hill Climb; 1928 Paddy Johnston Cup and another small trophy for 1928; majority engraved with race details and with original socle bases, various sizes.

Buyers Premium and Charges
Like the vast majority of auctioneers Bonhams charge what is known as a Buyer’s Premium. Buyer’s Premium on all Automobilia lots will adhere to Bonhams group policy:
Buyer’s Premium Rates
27. 5% on the first £20, 000 of the hammer price;
26% of the hammer price of amounts in excess of £20, 000 up to and including £700, 000;
20% of the hammer price of amounts in excess of £700, 000 up to and including £4, 500, 000;
and 14. 5% of the hammer price of any amounts in excess of £4, 500, 000.
VAT at the current rate of 20% will be added to the Buyer’s Premium and charges excluding Artists Resale Right.
For Motor Cars and Motorcycles a 15% Buyer’s Premium is payable on the first £50, 000 of the final Hammer Price of each Lot, and 12% on any amount by which the Hammer Price exceeds £50, 000. VAT at the standard rate is payable on the Premium by all Buyers, unless otherwise stated.
Some lots may be subject to VAT on the Hammer Price. These lots will be clearly marked with the relevant symbol printed beside the lot number in the catalogue.
Buyers’ Obligations
ALL BIDDERS MUST AGREE THAT THEY HAVE READ AND UNDERSTOOD BONHAMS’ CONDITIONS OF SALE AND AGREE TO BE BOUND BY THEM, AND AGREE TO PAY THE BUYER’S PREMIUM AND ANY OTHER CHARGES MENTIONED IN THE NOTICE TO BIDDERS. THIS AFFECTS THE BIDDERS LEGAL RIGHTS.
