1959 BSA A10 Super Rocket for sale £ 9500
One owner from new - bought to replace 1953 BSA A7 on which I had a serious road accident in 1956. I expected to use this bike year long in all weathers and so when ordering dispensed with twin clocks, which I felt unnecessary, and specified fully valanced front mudguard and fully enclosed rear chain; for winter use I fitted an Avonair dolphin fairing and year round Craven carrier and Rodark panniers . Due to my accident, which left me with restricted movement in the right leg joints, I extended forward the footrests ( both for the sake of symmetry) the gear lever and rear brake pedal, I have kept the standard items.
I used this bike until 1965 when I emigrated to South Africa. Not knowing how long I would remain there I stored the bike in my parents garden shed liberally covered in Finnigans Waxoyl
I returned 15 years later and still fancying motorcycling realized I would have to strip and rebuild the motorcycle. All tin ware was sent away for stove enamelling , frame etc. powder coated, all chrome replated and all fixings replaced with stainless steel including spokes. Everything is original except for tyres, chains and battery
I rode the bike rarely over the next few years until it reached the point where my injuries began to stiffen the joints and advancing years meant my strength was gradually disappearing. The bike has not run for around 4 years and will have to be recommissioned ie oil will have drained into sump. standard footrests etc. re-fitted and oil pump primed. Due to my disability/ age mentioned above, I have been unable to do this myself.
