If you're finding that your classic British big twin seems to be getting a bit too heavy and more unwieldy with each passing year, this may just be the answer to your problems. It's a 1959 Norton Jubilee twin which, at 250cc is a whole lot lighter and easier to handle than your much-loved but increasingly impractical 500 or 650.
It's one of the very earliest examples of the model, having been made in the early part of 1959 (the Jubilee was introduced in November 1958) and may even prove to be the earliest example still around. It's a matching numbers bike that was rebuilt/ re-commissioned in 1992.
The colour-matched Avon fairing is an authentic and expensive after-market fitment from that era and, combined with the factory-fitted 'de-luxe' bodywork, does a great job of keeping the worst of the weather off the rider, making bike-riding in the wet a much more attractive proposition. It also acts as a sure-fire talking point for visitors to bike shows where the bike is usually the only such example on display.
It's a reliable first-kick starter that runs well and stops well too. It also has the benefit of a sidestand, making parking an absolute doddle, and an external oil filter for ease of maintenence and enabling the use of modern multigrade oils.
