Here is a rare opportunity to acquire a fabulous 1988 BMW 635csi Highline in Alpine White with “silver leather” which is more of a grey in appearance. It drives beautifully and has undergone a tremendous amount of work to make sure it remains a great car for another decade. It’s never going to be a concours winner but it has had much work done to make sure it’s as useable as possible
It drives superbly well, and feels very modern on the road, great driving position with OEM electric seats that adjust in every possible direction as well as electric headrests. The inside is in very good condition and the grey leather covers the whole of the interior – this being the Highline model
It has just passed it’s MOT with no advisories and has only 4 previous owners and just 108k miles - it is a rare find
It has a brand new DAB radio with hands-free Bluetooth streaming – and even the on-board fader works. It has also been fitted with remote central locking
It comes with a large folder including detailed service history, Old MOT’s, receipts, sales brochures, build sheet, old adverts from previous sales – truly a testament to how loved this car has been through it’s few owners
Body-wise, it has recently gone through extensive refurbishment including rust-proofing, partial respray, some welding to sills and rear wheel arches (which are now solid although covered by the wide-arch trims), the front wings have been replaced with brand new wide-arch fibreglass ones – at least you know these will never rust. The last MOT showed an issue with the 2 rear jacking points so this were cut-out, the inner-sill welded and super-strong jacking points fashioned before the outer sill was welded. If you know these cars then you know rust was the big enemy and I have tried to have as much done as possible to prevent this being any major issue for the foreseeable future

It comes with not only the BBS alloys you see on the pictures but also the 5 original TRX wheels – all shod with perfectly serviceable tyres, plus 2 spare tyres, again in decent order. As you may or may not know the TRX wheels that originally came with the car as standard use a metric system of measurement which means that the tyres are very expensive (£350-450 each) and whilst they are still available, it does make sense to use the car everyday with the BBS wheels using standard tyres which you can pick up for around £70 new – saving the TRX’s for shows or special events where they will be noticed
Definitely a car that can be used as a daily classic and it would be a shame not to – turns a lot of heads and still fits right in with modern traffic – bearing in mind it was probably around £50k to purchase new 32 years ago – the 635 csi Highline is iconic motoring that, if looked after will probably only go up in value over the coming years. Buy a great classic and it’s the cheapest motoring there is
BAD BITS
Not too much – the headlight wipers have been disconnected, though could be reinstated with work and the paintwork does show a few blemishes and marks and obviously some evidence of the welding work which has been done underneath but even allowing for that it is an amazing looking useable piece of automotive art… creates huge attention and you will be noticed….
