Description
This is a rare HD, at least in the UK, and they don't come up for sale very often. This is a 1955 KH, 880cc side valve - predecessor to the Sportster.
The bike is pretty much as I got it a few years ago, I did replace the tyres, and the wiring (proper cotton loom), I fitted electronic ignition, had the carb professionally rebuilt and sorted the worst of the oil leaks...
It starts OK, clutch is a bit clunky but it goes up the gears OK - I have rarely used this bike so it will need commissioned for the road. It starts and runs, all electrics work, but it will need timing and carb adjusting for road use. The mileage listed is what is on the speedo, seems unlikely on a bike that age!
I think it started off life as blue, the white paint has been on there a long time. I bought it in Belgium. The rear light is repro tombstone, but everything else appears genuine.
It has a UK registration, matching belly numbers. It is crusty, most people like that look, but it is an easy restoration - no engine casing or fin damage that I can see.
It is in Scotland, but I am heading down to Grantham in next week or so, and I can stick it in the van if that helps with delivery. Any questions or if you need more info/ photos just ask.
If you collect Harleys you will want one of these - Elvis had one! (not this one unfortunately)
