Descrição
For sale is my deregistered 2005 LTI TX2 ex-London taxi. It’s the one with the 2. 7 Ford Turbo Diesel engine and is an automatic 3 speed with overdrive switch.
Let’s start with the good stuff.
It has an MOT until Feb 2023 and the vast majority of the advisories from the past have been done (at great expense!).
I’ve just done a 2600 mile round trip through Europe including France, Germany, Luxembourg, Netherlands and Belgium, and the taxi did not miss a beat. I’ve been using it as my daily driver since February and it’s been faultless. It sits on the motorway at 60mph, it will go faster but that’s not the point of such a vehicle!
I’ve spared no expense getting this vehicle in a condition to do the trip which includes
- servicing with OEM parts
- new glowplugs (pig of a job!)
- refurbishing the headlights
- fixing various electrical gremlins inc fog lights and all electric windows
- four wheels balanced, with great tread all round
- reconditioned steering box fitted (£££ job done by Taxi specialist in Liverpool)
- full cooling system drain, flush and refill
- EGR valve de-coked and refitted
- Earth straps replaced
- Full tracking
- front to rear brake pipe replaced
- wheel bearings greased and adjusted
- Suspension components replaced including ball joint boots and track rod ends
- many other smaller jobs which are too numerous to list!
- I’ve probably spent £2000 on this so the asking price is very reasonable
Other good points
Vehicle is a reliable workhorse and great for ferrying people around, doing tip runs, striking up conversations and European road trips. Came in handy as a wedding car for my friend in Bergerac, France.
Has a Kenwood Bluetooth stereo and a newly fitted microphone for hands free chat
Comes with decent speakers up front and some fitted ones in the back should you wish to wire them up
Amazing turning circle (no more three point turns)
LED headlights to improve visibility
Timing chain is quiet, no smoke from the tail pipe even from cold
Spare is in good condition
Will come with disabled ramp, additional seat belts as per original specifications.
Comes with a load of brand new spares which I bought “just in case” for my trip which includes accelerator cable, EGR valve (new!), fuel filter, windscreen wiper motor (just paranoid), thermostat, full set of bulbs and fuses, and two auxiliary drive belts. All of this stuff is just because I’m a bit over-cautious, there isn’t a big underlying issue.
All of the taxi oddities such as rear intercom, blower motor, vanity lights and auto door locking work as expected
Two sets of keys (cut locally at great cost!)
Recently refurbished drivers seat
Comes with wooden steering wheel which is apparently a bit rare?
The automatic gearbox appears to be a relatively recent addition because it’s a lot cleaner than the engine
It has a voltmeter and an engine oil temperature garage fitted by previous owners
Huge amount of space for stuff both in the back and the luggage area (it doesn’t have a front passenger seat)
The not so good points
This vehicle has done 360, 000 miles and although mechanically it is spot-on, the body work is tatty. The doors in particular are at the bottom which is very common. You can buy new ones off eBay for £50-£100 should you wish to do so. The sills are also of unknown quality. I have lots of pictures available and am happy to send them on to you.
The air conditioning doesn’t work. Mainly because the belt doesn’t go round the compressor, but the compressor does spin freely but there could be other things wrong with the system. I didn’t feel it was worth the energy investigating this.
The odometer only works intermittently
There is not a lot of history or paperwork with it, only the stuff I’ve got since February.
It’s slow. This is more of a feature than a fault as they’re all slow, so although it’s fine at motorway speeds it is a Ford van engine so drives like one.
The central locking fob has gone AWOL so you have to lock the back doors using the button up front, then lock up the front ones with the key.
Given the age of the vehicle I can only offer this for sale on a sold as seen basis.
I wish to be as honest and truthful as possible, and welcome viewings. Horribly low-ball offers or silly swaps will be met with disdainful responses.
Vehicle is in Harrogate, North Yorkshire.
