1938 A valuable classic with great driving pleasure For Sale

History:
Long before the start of the war, the shortage of raw materials was already making itself felt, which made the announcement that there would be a new model with a decidedly sporty note- the BMW 327- seem all the more incredible at the time. Since the new model would not be available until May 1938, the announcement of 12 November 1937 seemed a little premature. The BMW 327 in its unique elegance was available as a coupé or convertible. The two-seater model with a narrow emergency bench seat in the rear was considered a sporty version of the BMW 326 on the technical basis of the BMW 320. A slight increase in compression ratio (1:6. 3 instead of 1:6. 0) resulted in an additional 5 hp compared to the previous 326 model. This example came to Switzerland in 1971, where it was bought by the present owner and later completely restored. The beautiful classic belonged to a respectable collection at Lake Constance before it now goes to a new owner in excellent condition and freshly inspected and veteran-tested.

Bodywork and paintwork:
Despite 30 years of restoration, the bodywork is in remarkable condition and the paintwork is still immaculate. This example shows impressively how a high quality standard makes a restoration worthwhile. The soft top was recently renewed and is in absolutely new condition, including the linkage, lining and panelling.

Interior:
The entire interior is in remarkable condition, largely original and with an extremely well-kept, light patina. Even those who want a like-new interior on a classic car will be pleased with the honest traces and the wonderful character of the interior.
The instrument panel with its original gauges is absolutely original and unrestored.

Engine and mechanics:
The engine has been driven less than 5'000km since its overhaul. Due to the long standing time, the entire fuel supply had to be flushed and the carburettors overhauled in 2021. For enthusiasts who wish to ride this example regularly, a complete technical inspection will be carried out, all fluids changed, the ignition system and carburettors overhauled and the chassis and brakes refitted. For collectors who prefer to keep such a gem in their collection and only take it out a few times a year, there is a corresponding discount.

Chassis:
The original chassis as well as the disc wheels with central locking are in very good condition. The (hardly used) Michelin tyres will be renewed on request as they are already over 12 years old. The underbody is very clean and undamaged. In the course of the restoration work on the body, the underbody was completely restored and appropriately preserved.

Driving experience:
The BMW 327 invites you to stroll around. It is not a sports car, yet you can feel the fact that BMW has always been a sports car manufacturer. The 55 hp of the 1080 kg driving weight make it easy to keep up with the traffic.

Recommendation:
The BMW 327 embodies sportiness and elegance of the 30s and 40s. BMW's pre-war technology was far ahead of its competitors, which makes it still driveable and easy to maintain today. This classic can be driven and enjoyed or looked at and enjoyed. The charm of such a car is undiminished and anyone who likes is welcome to take this car to any event imaginable. Thanks to its relatively low maintenance requirements, this historic automobile is a popular classic for lovers of pre-war vehicles. It is suitable as an investment to a limited extent, because its value has hardly changed in recent years - but the joy of beauty has, because such bodies are becoming increasingly rare.
