Description
A 1979 2 door Range Rover Classic
The first of the Range Rovers were all two-door models but only up until 1981 when the four door was added. The two door continued in production until 1990 but is now increasingly rare. The Range Rover Classic is one of the nicest and most useful 4×4 out there, and many experts in the classic car world have pegged the two door Range Rover Classic are a serious investment vehicle – which has sent prices skyward.
Engine: 3. 5-litre (3, 528cc) all lloy V8 with twin Zenith/ Stromberg carburettors originally producing power of 130bhp @ 5000rpm and torque of 185lb ft @ 2500rpm. and recently recomissioned with cylinder heads rebuilt, skimmed, de-coked and head gasket in June 2022, a new starter motor fitted a few weeks ago
Transmission: Manual LT95 combined four-speed manual gearbox and transfer box with constant four wheel drive and manual differential locks. This model fitted with the overdrive option. This was reconditioned in 2020
This Tuscan blue 2-door Range Rover was resprayed some years ago and is bright enough but there is orange peel and if perfection is required the new owner might consider respraying. The colour is a BL colour. The wheels have been shot blasted and repainted.
The interior is original condition and untouched other than a new headlining , recently fitted. The seat fabric is mot ripped or torn but is showing its age as are the carpets.
Underside tidy, chassis has been cleaned and repaired were necessary and we would describe as solid and very clean, a new fuel tank has been fitted plus a full stainless steel exhaust
In 2020 the steering pump was replaced, as were shocks, brakes, brake pipes and reconditioning of carburettors, leads and complete overhaul of the gearbox
In terms of history there is not much paperwork other than the invoices relating to above which is some £8000. The car is not concours but honest, good example that could be moved on to the next level if required but stands well as is
