The G60 Golf Rallye really is something quite special. Just 5, 000 were hand built in Belgium by Vw motorsport to satisfy FIA homologation requirements for the 1990 World Rally Championship and although the best VW had to show for its efforts was a solitary third place the legacy is a thoroughly fascinating vehicle.

Visually, the limited edition Rallye was distinguished by the body coloured grille housing rectangular headlights, the redesigned front bumper, the considerably wider front and rear fenders with a boxy look, and the extended side sills. Under the bonnet there is an 8 valve, G-supercharged, 1763 cc engine with a larger intercooler and electrical injection, producing 160 hp of power and 226 Nm of torque, combined with a 5 speed manual gearbox and a Syncro four wheel drive.
