2004 VW Polo Cup Race Car
Reg. no. Not Road Registered
Chassis no. VWR 0026
Transmission: Manual
Volkswagen Motorsport built a number of Polo Cup Cars to compete in the Polo Cup in Europe in the early 2000’s. Weighing around 1000Kg and powered by the popular BAM 1. 8T VAG engine with a 5-speed manual gearbox, these race cars are light and agile, whilst coilover suspension and Brembo brakes help it corner and stop like a race car should. This Polo holds a VW Motorsport plaque with the build number 0026. The car has previously been raced in the local Castle Combe Saloon Car Championship. Short of lightweight polycarbonate windows, the exterior remains as per the production model but with a full FIA approved welded in roll cage on the inside, these race cars can be used in a number of series in the UK and Europe today. As you would expect the interior is sparse with a flocked lightweight dash, Recaro bucket seat and brake bias valve and that is about all you get.
Only having been used once on track in its current ownership the car will require inspecting before it is next put through its paces. It can be used in some UK club racing with its current seat and harness but will require a fresh battery and a new or serviced in-car fire extinguisher. The car sits in white ready for the new owner’s livery and includes a spare set of wheels. A fantastic entry level race car with official VW motorsport heritage.
