Description
1968 Shell 4000 Prototype. This restored car was built at the factory in Brampton Ontario as a test mule and development car for the upcoming cross Canada Shell 4000 Rally to be run from Calgary to Halifax. Once the team was satisfied with the experiment, 3 white cars with black hoods were built in it's likeness to compete in the rally proper. This car became affectionately known to the team as "Old Blue". It was used as a chase car in the rally should any parts be required... all 4 cars completed the event problem free, with the 3 team cars finishing 2nd, 3rd and 5th winning the team award. Post rally, the car was sold to an Ontario competitor who raced and rallied the car in regional events, until once tired, had a trailer hitch added to tow other race cars to events, never leaving the competition scene. After sitting neglected for 30 years, the car has been restored and re-united with some of the original team members, celebrating the 50th at Mosport serving pace car duties. 1 of 1.
