1972 Aston Martin DBS V8 Auto For Sale

Stratton Motor Company are pleased to be able to offer for sale this lovely example of the 1972 Aston martin DBS V8

The DBS V8 was produced for only three years, from 1969 to 1972 when the 'DB' annotation was dropped following the sale of the company from Sir David Brown to the consortium 'Company Developments'.

The DBS model followed on from the Italian designed DB6, designed by William Towns (Formerly from British car maker Austin) and was intended from the outset to house the all new Tadek Marek designed V8 engine, and hence the much wider body.

However, the development of this engine took longer than anticipated and so the earlier versions were fitted with the last of the very successful 4. 0 litre twin cam straight six engines, also designed by Tadek Marek, that had been used over the last decade.

But following the successful development the 5. 3litre all alloy V8 was ready for its new home and the subsequent appearance of the DBS V8.

These cars are distinct from their straight six counterparts with the introduction of the new alloy designed wheels as it was found that the former wire spoked wheels  struggled to cope with the increase in torque and the heavier engine.

But the DBS was an altogether larger car, and intently so, to comfortably carry 4 passengers and practicality around capacity and style, not that the former DB6 ever lacked in the latter.

It also saw the introduction of the Bosch fuel injection although this was later superseded by a return to carburettors (V8 Vantage)

This particular car has a very comprehensive documented history and in its life has had a full nut and bolt restoration, including detail of its return to original colours Pacific Blue with a 'Fawn' leather interior.

Both the interior and exterior were restored to a very good standard.

More notably in 2015 the engine was subject of a complete rebuild at Aston Engineering at a cost of £28k and this included an increase in capacity form the original 5. 3litre to 5. 6litre, and an increase in engine output to 342bhp and 399lbft of torque.

The engine was rebuilt at 72569 miles and of note is that it has covered just 72800 miles to date, and as such it is a newly rebuilt engine, rebuilt to a very high standard by renowned engineers.

As previously stated, the car has covered just 72800 miles although between the majority of that mileage was completed between 1972 and 1979 (57000 miles) and so has only completed 15000 miles in the last 44 years.

The car bears the registration NAX38 which is available on separate negotiation.

This car is ready for its next proud owner to take it to its next chapter.
