When you think of 1960s British sports cars, the Scimitar SE4 is probably not the first model to come to mind – which is exactly why they have such a committed following today. Always an uncommon car, the SE4 is now genuinely rare.
Reliant’s first Scimitar was a coupe based upon the styling of a Daimler SP250 prototype (renamed the SX250) and the chassis of a Reliant Sabre. It was first displayed in 1964. It was powered by a 2. 6-litre Ford straight six from the Ford Zephyr and Zodiac. In 1966 the SE4A was replaced by the SE4A/ B, with a 3. 0 L V6 Ford Essex Engine.
