With the F12 and F12tdf being amongst some of Ferrari?s best GT?s of the new Millennium, the development of a suitable replacement was not to be an easy task. Ferrari designers and engineers set to work, ensuring that performance, styling and dynamics were up to the strictest standards, worthy of the Pracing Horse badge. The result was a sophisticated, highly technological car that maintained a naturally aspirated, non-hybrid V12 at its core.
For starters, the Enzo-derived F140 engine was enlarged to 6. 5 litres, now producing 789hp, 20 more than the F12tdf, to a top speed of 340kmph. The car also featured dynamic flaps, four-wheel electronic power steering (EPS), and brakes borrowed from the LaFerrari. Design cues showed some restrained sharpness compared to the more flamboyant F12/ F12tdf; the interior paid closer attention to volume, light, ergonomics, and digital integration, making the 812 a surprisingly easy car to operate.
An open ?GTS? followed the coupé after two years of production (2019), as well as a ?Competizione? and open ?Competizione A? (2021) with more focus on track performance and dynamics. Most interestingly, the new ?Icona? series, pioneered as a limited, collectible line tributing past Ferrari legends, featured the 812 as the base for its SP1 and SP2 models, honoring the Monza from the 1950?s.
This particular car, a Gulf specification 812, is finished in a tasteful black-on-black spec with red accents. A pre-emissions model (2019), it comes with full manuals and accessories, and is up to date with service (August 2023) and ready for its next owner.
