The Mini John Cooper LE 40 was launched in 1999 with a production run of 300 units as a tribute to 40 years of the Mini and to mark the 40th anniversary of the Cooper F1 World Championship. The LE 40 was only available in the striking combination of Brooklands Green with an Old English White roof, over a contrasting Grenadine Red full-leather interior trim.
This Mini John Cooper LE 40 was supplied new by Dixon Rover on 4th November 1999 and is a fantastic example. The Mini boasts 21000 miles from new and has been under the ownership of the same family for the past 17 years, with recurring periods unused in storage.
As one of the most expensive production Minis ever made, the Mini John Cooper LE 40 came with a suitably generous specification which included sumptuous Grenadine red leather seats, an engine-turned dashboard, Sportspack arches and a bank of four spot lamps. The exterior presents superbly with even colour finish throughout. The chromework and trim is in excellent condition with great shine and finish. All panels are believed to be original apart from the outer door skins. The original factory spot welds are present on inner wings and the original factory ‘body’ number is present on the slam panel. The Mini has its original vented sills both sides and rides on a set of unmarked 13? alloy wheels shod with new tyres. The interior is in excellent condition and reflects the very low mileage.
This is one of the best Minis I have driven. The 1275cc injection engine is sprightly, pulling well through all four gears and braking effectively. The gear synchros are in good order with no crunches on the changes.
The Mini is sold newly serviced and MOT’d until 24th May 2024 (no advisories) and is ready to be enjoyed. It also benefits from a new Maniflow exhaust, new front Hi-Los and knuckle joints, new rear wheel cylinders, a new fuel pump, a new auxiliary belt and four new tyres. Supplied with the Mini is a history file which includes the original stamped service book.
