This Suzuki GSX400F is in exceptionally nice order and has just had a new MOT issued on 27th September for peace of mind. No advises given.
The gentleman I bought it from had two GSX400F he had used back back to around 2000 until he retired them. He then restored one to standard condition and the other is this bike he made into a cafe. It was broadly finished but not set up and needing a bit of fettling... though it had been mot'd.
I think the bike looks spot on in style, as my mot man said a proper retro look.... not that flat seat handlebar brat style.
It has a nice seat unit, a larger GSX1100 fuel tank and twin GSX1100 fork legs and brakes up front. Wheels were painted, new tyres, brakes, new wiring loom, wheel bearings, chain, an all in one digital speedo/ tacho, clip on bars, etc etc.
The frame is paint... not thick nasty powder coat that is diffuclt to touch up and the red a super colour with laquered in decals. The paint is not perfect... when I got it the laquer was crazed, this is mostly repaired and looks nine out of ten but is not perfect.
The original engine is in the bike and sounds great, looking at MOT history it had about 50K on it when it was done. I was told he had taken the head off and done valves etc but have no evidence, it sounds and goes well though. I managed to lose about 200 miles off the digital speedo unit when I reset it to work correctly and started at zero again! The good news is the speedo is spot on with my satnav running alongside.... so the milometer will be correct too. It has only done a few hundred miles since the work though.
I have re-jetted the carbs and it is running nicely now. It starts easily on the button and the gears are very slick. The brakes powerful as they should be and it has to be said it rides as a really balanced machine.
I love it and being honest am not sure I should sell it, it will stay with me happily for next years use if it soes not go swiftly.
It was registered in March 1983 meaning if it is registered historic it will be MOT and Tax exempt from April next year.
Summing it up, not a show bike but one built to use, it has been done correctly and is not a typical old nail with posh clothes! Newwiring loom, brakes, shocks, tyres, etc etc etc.
Revival motors is a very part time business which deals in classic cars and motorcycles of a type I like…………. turning a hobby into a very part time vocation I actually enjoy for over 25 years. I am always happy to discuss my vehicles which usually I have used and will always point out any known faults, issues or areas that could be improved.
