This motorcycle is to be auctioned at The Autumn Stafford Sale - The Classic Motorcycle Mechanics Show
Replacements for the BMW '/ 5' series, the '/ 6' series arrived in October 1973. The newcomers were more sportily styled than the outgoing range, boasting new side-panels and silencers, and totally restyled controls and instruments. Like their predecessors, the three '/ 6' models shared an identical stroke; the 500cc model though, had been dropped, while at the top of the range was a new 900cc superbike: the R90S. After three years the '/ 6' line-up was replaced in the autumn of 1976 by the '/ 7'. The R90S fuel tank shape (adopted across the range) and redesigned rocker covers were distinguishing features, while at the top of the range, 980cc R100 models replaced the '90' series. This example was purchased by the late vendor in 2000, little is known of its previous history although he was advised it was used in the Police force. Having not been used for a few years, recommissioning to a greater or lesser extent will be needed before returning to the road. Offered with a V5C, expired MoT's and a service manual.
