- Only two owners from new!
- Exceptional original condition
- Rare hardtop and extensive original documentation
This DS 21 cabriolet is quite simply one of the most exceptional examples we have seen. Delivered by the factory on 9 february 1968 and sold new by the Citroën dealer in Mantes-la-Jolie and first registered on 10 April 1968 by a building contractor in the Yvelines, it had an elegant combination of Silver Grey paintwork (AC 114) and a Tobacco leather interior. The car was also ordered with a rare black hardtop and a Continental Edison radio in addition to its standard equipment. Noëlle Chapron, from whom the future owner will be able to obtain a copy of the specific archive documents for this car, with its original specifications, also confirmed that this cabriolet was delivered with the height-adjustable driver's seat. Its first owner's wife kept the car until 2000, after registering it in her name in 1986 after her husband passed away, as can be seen from the old registration document in the car's file. Its current owner, a connoisseur of the model, bought the car from her. Meticulously preserved over the years, the DS has remained in breathtakingly original condition and has never been restored. It still has its hardtop, which had never been removed before the car changed hands in 2000, with the result that the very well preserved hood is also original. Even the cover provided for the screen in the hood still has its label with instructions for use! The car comes with many period documents: its certificate of conformity, the owner's manual in its wallet with the extra page for the cabriolet, its warranty card, the instructions for the radio and even a parking disc from the Citroën garage which sold the car when it was new... The bodywork is very sound and well aligned, and has apparently never been repainted, examination reveals that it has all its original Chapron-stamped parts. Inside, the upholstery is original and magnificently preserved, as is the dashboard. The odometer is showing 13, 465 km, which corresponds to the 113, 465 km the car has covered from new. The DX engine is still the original one, as confirmed by the Conservatoire Citroën. The owner has had the car regularly maintained so that it is ready to be driven at any time, while taking care to preserve it. A rare model, since only 95 cars were built for the 1968 model year, this cabriolet with its clear history is certainly one of the best preserved examples still in existence, making it unique. This true collector's item is worthy of attention from the most demanding of connoisseurs.
