Sold with the V5C, V5, Pioneer certificate (1990 when the registration was DS 8760), purchase receipt, receipt for an engine and magneto rebuild.
Formed by Alfred Scott of Bradford in 1908, the distinctive two stroke incorporated water cooling, all-chain drive, telescopic forks, low slung weight and a lightweight duplex frame giving superb road holding. In 1910 a Scott was the first two-stroke motorcycle to complete a full TT course under race conditions won the event in 1912 and 1913.
The models produced for 1911 included further design changes including a re-designed 486 cc engine with water-cooled cylinder barrels and a larger capacity honeycomb radiator. Further improvements followed in 1912 with the increase in engine size to 532cc, the 1913 models marked the introduction of the famous rexine covering to the fuel tank whilst the 1914 machines adopted heavier forks, a drip feed lubricator to prevent over oiling and a an oil cup to lubricate the two speed gear.
SV comes with paperwork from the previous owner E. Dodge who states that he bought it from Verrals, as unregistered, and that it had come from the National Motorcycle museum. Our vendor bought it in 1999 and road it on the Pioneer run in 2014. During his long ownership it has been very well maintained along with the others in his stable.
