Purchased by us as a running concern, all be it in a very poor cosmetic state, this now very nice 400 Four was imported into the UK in 2021 from the States and one of the aims during it's revival was to convert it more or less, back to UK spec so loosing the nasty oversize indicators etc along the way. The motor and gearbox were already very good so recieved a service, carb balance etc and a general cosmetic refresh. Chassis wise new wheel rims and spokes were fitted to polished hubs, tyres were as new so were refitted. Steering head bearings were replaced while refinishing the top and bottom yoke. New correct Honda style handlebars were fitted with new UK spec switch gear and a new ignition switch. A good but used uk headlight was sourced and fitted to a new headlamp shell. New UK spec indicators were fitted all round while the rest of the electrics were generally tidied up and routed correctly. A combined regulator/ rectifier had previously been fitted and the charge system works well especially for a Honda of this era. Front fork legs were polished and new seals fitted. Front brake caliper was striped cleaned and refinished, there is a braided front brake line and new rear shoes were fitted . The original exhaust down pipes have been retained but a new pattern "Honda style" silencer has been fitted as the original was past saving. Both front and rear guards are the originals along with the chain guard, all of which show some signs of age but are very presentable, same story for the seat. Paintwork was refinished from the original blue to the yellow you see today. Yes i know this is an early series bike with the pillion foot rests mounted to the swinging arm, so strictly speaking were never yellow, but I don't care it looks so much better in yellow with the later graphics, than the rather dull blue or red colours they came in and this bike is not a 100 point restoration its been built to be riden.
Not the cheapest on the market, but has to be one of the nicest at this price.
