HISTORY

In 2009 Abarth organized its own single-brand championship, the "Abarth 500 Trophy" to promote one model in particular of the small Italian hot hatch: a 500 built in just 49 examples which will take the name "Assetto Corse". Only they were allowed to participate in this Trophy, together with the strictly unmodified "Abarth 500 Limited Edition".

The Assetto Corse model is characterized by the now tested 1. 4 T-jet engine which reaches 190 HP and 300 Nm of torque, thanks to the larger Garrett turbine and the intercooler borrowed from the Alfa Romeo MiTo. With this engine the car is reasonable in terms of maintenance costs and driving pleasure. It's not just a fair compromise, in reality the 500 Assetto Corse is truly a small sports car. Compared to the road version, it goes on a diet, losing 180 kg, for a total weight of only 930 kg. A mechanical self-locking differential is added to the six-speed manual gearbox which guarantees traction and delays the phenomenon of understeer. As regards the braking sector, Abarth has decided to remove the ABS and the distribution of braking power between the front and rear becomes adjustable thanks to the use of a pressure reducer; braking assistance is maintained. The Assetto Corse remains planted on the ground thanks to Michelin 205/ 50 R 17 tires on 17-inch ultra-light white OZ Racing rims. The Brembo-branded self-ventilating drilled discs measure 305 x 28 mm at the front and are accompanied by 4-piston calipers, while at the rear we find 264 x 11 mm discs.

Being the 49 out of 49 ever made our can has the bragging right for the last ever produced since that the car has never been raced and cover only 209km as inticated in the speedo.

Nel 2009 Abarth ha organizzato un proprio campionato monomarca, il ?Trofeo Abarth 500? per promuovere un modello in particolare della piccola hot hatch italiana: una 500 costruita in soli 49 esemplari che prenderanno il nome di ?Assetto Corse?. In questo Trofeo solo loro avevano il permesso di partecipare, insieme alle ?Abarth 500 Limited Edition? rigorosamente non modificate.

Il modello Assetto Corse è caratterizzato dall?ormai collaudato motore 1. 4 T-jet che passa a 190 CV e 300 Nm di coppia, grazie alla turbina Garrett maggiorata e all?intercooler preso in prestito dall?Alfa Romeo MiTo. Con questo motore l?auto risulta essere ragionevole in termini di costi di manutenzione e piacevolezza di guida. Non è solo un giusto compromesso, in realtà la 500 Assetto Corse è davvero una piccola sportiva. Rispetto alla versione stradale si mette a dieta perdendo ben 180 kg, per un peso totale di soli 930 kg. Al cambio manuale a sei rapporti si aggiunge un differenziale autobloccante meccanico che garantisce la trazione e ritarda il fenomeno del sottosterzo. Per quanto riguarda il comparto frenante, Abarth ha deciso di rimuovere l'ABS e la distribuzione della potenza frenante tra anteriore e posteriore diventa regolabile grazie all?uso di un riduttore di pressione; l?assistenza alla frenata viene mantenuta. L?Assetto Corse rimane piantata a terra grazie agli pneumatici Michelin 205/ 50 R 17 su cerchi bianchi ultraleggeri OZ Racing da 17 pollici. I dischi forati autoventilanti marchiati Brembo misurano 305 x 28 mm all?anteriore e sono accompagnati da pinze a 4 pistoni, mentre al posteriore troviamo dei dischi da 264 x 11 mm.

Essendo la 49 su 49 mai realizzate, possiamo vantarci dell'ultima mai prodotta, da quel momento l'auto non ha mai corso e ha percorso soltanto 209 km come indicato nel tachimetro durante una delibera.
