Here we have a truly superb example of the very popular VW beetle..
Our client has owned this car since 2018. It had been parked up in a neighbours garage since 1978 - I believe he was the 1st owner but have no documentary evidence (log book shows me as 2nd owner) with the car.
Body off restoration by Luke May of BUGerd VW in 2018 / 19.
Minimal welding (for a VW): front inner wheel arch repair, rear bumper hangers, minor repair to passenger door. Normally you would see the floor pans, sills and bottom 2 inches rotted out.
So importantly has all its original body panel, glass and interior (except carpet),
Replacement parts: brakes re-built, front beam, bumpers, trim, petrol tank and lines, engine rebuilt using new barrels & pistons + case. The engine is now a 1341 cc but uses the original crank, cam, heads and tinware etc.
Modifications: lowered and narrowed front beam, lowered at rear (this can be reversed easily as no body mods), replica South African Sprinstar wheels, upgraded to 12v electrics using an original dynamo to preserve the look of the engine bay, fitted period radio (will connect to phone) form Chrome London, NOS period emergency flasher, Webber twin carb & OG Bosch 019 distributor, NOS wing mirror.
Comes with original VW key + 2 spares which importantly operate all locks
All handles and indicators are original
Additional info:
gear lever is a Vintage Speed quick shift. I have the original
- yellow lenses are NOS Bosch - also comes with the original clear lenses
- carpet is original style square weave from Newton Commercial
- the car hasn’t been on a Dyno - but with engine improvements should be 50 - 55 hp versus the 40 it left the factory with
This is a wonderful example and one not to be missed, the car is ready to be used and enjoyed this summer, any questions please ask...
