The Morris Eight is a small family car produced by Morris Motors from 1935 to 1948. The car, inspired by the popularity of the Ford Model Y, helped Morris regain its position as Britain's largest motor manufacturer.
This 1935 Morris 8 has been subject to major restoration work. The engine and gearbox have been completely stripped and rebuilt with a no expense spared approach which certainly shows in the way the engine runs as well as sounds. It drives very well - there is no play in the steering whatsoever and, for a little engine, it is very powerful. The gearbox benefits from new bearings and synchro and the gear change is immaculate. As with every Morris 8, hydraulic brakes and SU Carburettor are standard - real pros when considering a vintage car! The carburettor and distributor have been professionally rebuilt and a new clutch fitted. With good tyres all round, working indicators and some other added extras this really is a lovely example.
When the car was restored the paint work was carried out to an extremely high standard - we imagine it wasn’t far from a concourse respray at the time. It's aged very well and still in very good condition, although there are now a couple of areas where cracks have appeared. The seats have been kept in the original blue leather, new carpets were fitted and the headlining, in beautiful condition, is complete with it's functioning sunroof. All doors lock on the key.
The car comes with a selection of manuals, tools and spares in the sale. Also included is a photographic history folder that shows some of the restoration work that has been carried out. Current V5 is present.
