Previously sold by us in 2022, to one of our regular clients. When we first purchased and prior to selling it, the bike was described as having “possible low compression” Well that might of been caused by the fact that the timing chain had prematurely failed so the bottom end of the engine was not attached to the top and had bent two exhaust valves! We had the engine rebuilt replacing the aforementioned valves, timing chain, timing chain tensioner and roller, plus while there put a set of rings up it after the bores had been honed for good measure.
While the rest of the bike was so nice and original, the paint had been faded by the sun so that was also done while the engine was being built. We retained the rest of it as yes there are signs of age on things like indicator stems, but nothing that detracts from its looks and it would be a shame to destroy its originality. Past that there is a minor scuff (see picture) on one of the chrome silencer shields on the all important “must have” original exhaust system.
While it was in the hands of the previous owner, who looks after both his and his wife's bikes meticulously, he fitted an electronic ignition from “Charlies Place” , along with a pair of new rear shocks. So it now rides very well, starts easily and revs cleanly. Gearbox is very smooth with no clutch judder, everything works as designed.
All in all its just a very nice example of this sought after classic Honda.
