The Opel GT was built between 1968 and 1973. A large portion of the vehicles produced were shipped to the USA. The Opel GT was initially built in the GT 1100 and GT 1900 variants. The more powerful version with 90 hp and a top speed of almost 190 km/ h was particularly sought-after. The GT model was the dream of an entire generation of motorists. The sporty styling and the foldable headlights made the vehicle a style icon even back then. Opel advertised provocatively in the 1970s with the tagline “Only flying is more beautiful” and received a great deal of praise from the automotive press.
