Mercedes 190 SL unit restored in 2002 This Mercedes Benz 190SL (R121) was sold new in California, USA, in 1960. It was imported into Europe in the mid 90's and was fully restored in 2002 by the previous owner at a company specialising in the restoration of classic vehicles in Valencia. At the time of its restoration, the Mercedes-Benz Classic Center in Fellbach, Germany, was contacted to trace the original specification of the exact shade of leather and paint colour it had when it left the factory in order to retain as much of the vehicle's originality as possible.
Over the last few years, it has been serviced annually by us and two twin 45mm Weber carburettors have been fitted to make it more reliable and practical for today's road use. Remarkably, it retains the original mechanical clock built into the glovebox lid. A highly sought-after piece by collectors, it is currently in a magnificent state of preservation, having been restored 20 years ago. It is registered as a historic vehicle in Spain and has all its documents up to date.
