An American on a budget! For the first time since the famous Eldorado convertible of 1976, Cadillac offered a convertible: the new and chic Biarritz. Its rear side windows raised and lowered automatically with the electric roof, and it featured a glass rear window. Convertible bodies were offered in three colours: Cotillion White, Hatteras Blue and Autumn Maple Firemist, the latter being the colour of our example. Reinforced chassis rails and crossmembers and a reinforced body structure added the necessary strength and rigidity.
The convertibles had the following features: - Special decorative mouldings for wide, shiny doors and wings; - Decorative strip on the deck lid; - Nameplate in Biarritz script; - Spoked wheel covers; - Special Biarritz upholstered seat with several buttons; - Leather-wrapped steering wheel rim; - As well as the Cadillac anti-theft system Description The interior of the Eldorado is very luxurious. The two-spoke tilt and telescopic steering wheel frames the digital instrument cluster. The seats are upholstered in white buttoned leather, while the dashboard and door panels appear to be carved from wood, giving the car a luxurious lounge feel. The car rides on 15-inch chrome wheels and is powered by a 250-cubic-inch (4. 1-litre) HT-4100 'High Technology' V8 L small-block, which delivers 125bhp and enables the car to accelerate from 0-100kph in 13. 8 seconds to reach a top speed of 171kph. That may not sound like much by today's standards, but it was the 1980s, and the Eldorado wasn't exactly a sports car. The car's white leather interior is what today's marketers would call 'traditional American luxury'. With wide, glove-soft leather seat cushions, it's like your grandmother's living room on wheels. The red and white combination is striking and somewhat flashy, perhaps suggesting that the people who originally ordered this car were more than just 'traditional Americans'. The front bucket seats are comfortable, even if they're not particularly supportive in corners; but that doesn't matter, because this car is designed to traverse the Texas plains at 130 km/ h, not to carve curves. The wood-trimmed dashboard and steering wheel are in excellent condition, with a full range of digital gauges keeping an eye on the car's mechanics. Electronic climate control was standard equipment, and at the touch of a button it will also tell you the outside temperature. At the rear, there's almost limousine-like legroom under a wide white leather sofa that's so big you'll have a new place to let house guests spend the night.
Externally, the car has a beautiful paint job, the chrome is in good condition and all the accessories are present. The spoked wheels are in good condition and the car has whitewall tyres.
