Description
Mini is a small car, which was originally produced as the Austin Se7en and Morris Mini Minor between 1959 and 1970. In 1970, the Mini brand was introduced and the two earlier models were only referred to as 'Mini'. It is confusing that these two models were referred to as 'Mini' from 1962 onwards, as with Austin Mini and Morris Mini Minor.
It was a revolutionary and distinctive small car that was designed for the British Motor Corporation (BMC) by Alec Issigonis (1906-1988) and that was made in Birmingham. This car used new, progressive techniques for that time, such as a transversely mounted engine and front-wheel drive, a concept that is often used today. The Mini was available with engines of 850, 1000 and 1275 cc. From 1964 to 1971, the Minis had the hydraulic suspension system designed by Alex Moulton, called 'hydrolastic'. After that, mainly for cost reasons, they went back to the original rubber elements for the suspension.
This Mini presented here is equipped with the later introduced engine with 1275 cc. This increased the power from 36 hp to 61 hp. Furthermore, this Mini has also been further modernized on the inside, it has been given a light leather upholstery, a lot of wood has been incorporated into the dashboard and there is an open roof. On the outside, chrome wheels have been applied and extra spotlights have been placed on it. All in all, it has become a very sporty Mini that also drives great.
