In August 52 Simca obtained the world record with 50000km covered on the Montlhéry autodrome at an average speed of 117. 27km/ h. On 9 April 1957, the flash-engined Aronde broke several world records and did not stop until 17 May after 100, 000km. It went on to become the 100, 000km world champion, winning 25 class records and 3 distance records in the process, and from 1958 onwards it was awarded the world records badge on the rear tyre. This vehicle has a collector's licence, is not subject to the Crit'Air system, undergoes a technical inspection every 5 years, and has 4 known owners to date. This car exudes the spirit of the 60s, a great French car brand founded in 1934 by Henri Théodore Pigozzi, of Italian origin and distributor of the Fiat brand in France since 1926. An outstanding entrepreneur, he began assembling and producing Fiat models in Suresnes in 1934. This led to the birth of the first French Fiat cars, the 6 CV, the popular 508 Ballila, and the 11 CV, the French version of the 518 Ardita... To compete with the Peugeot 203, in 1951 the Aronde appeared as the first Simca to be developed completely independently of Fiat. The Aronde was a huge success, with over 100, 000 cars produced by 1959. It was then replaced by the P60. In the mid-1950s, Simca bought Ford, then Talbot in 1959, and bought the ultra-modern Poissy plant, selling its old Nanterre plant to Citroën. It produced some very fine models, including the Versailles, the Ariane, and the legendary Simca 1000 (all versions combined sold more than a million units!) Then Simca became Chrysler France in 1970. Before being bought out by Peugeot in 1978 when Chrysler decided to withdraw from Europe. The vehicle can be seen in our workshop on a lift.
