FACEL VEGA FB III 1964 Coupé OVERDRIVE Produced between 1963 and 1964 in only 625 examples, 192 of which were convertibles, the type FB III is a rare car on the market. A true French sports car, it has many enthusiasts today. Its inimitable style is instantly recognisable.
This car was delivered new to a dealer in Lyon on 30 June 1964, and has probably had 4 owners. A special feature of this car is that it is fitted with a Volvo B20 engine, which is slightly more powerful than the original one (originally a Volvo P1800 engine with 108 bhp). The engine underwent a complete overhaul a few months ago (approx. €20. 000€): - replacement of the connecting rods, piston rings and crankshaft - rectification of the cylinder head and honing of the valves - overhaul of the carburettor - overhaul of the clutch - replacement of the water pump, fuel pump and oil pump - overhaul of the radiator and starter motor - fitting of a stainless steel exhaust system with stainless steel manifold - fitting of 4 KONI shock absorbers - fitting of a custom aluminium fuel tank - replacement of the 4 brake callipers - overhaul of the front axle: fitting of an electronic ignition - replacement of the coil with an alternator This Volvo B20 engine offers fabulous torque. The car is a pleasure to drive. Gear changes are seamless. The overdrive is appreciated on the motorway. The bodywork has some age-related wear and tear, but this gives it a certain cachet. The paintwork was redone years ago (in the original colour). It is fitted with 4 new tyres mounted on new spoked rims (15 inches). When we put the car on the deck, we noticed that the inside of the rocker panels needed to be refurbished. A restoration is therefore planned. The interior is in standard condition with normal wear and tear. The seats and door panels are in good condition. The dashboard is also in good condition. The instrumentation is functional. A very rare car on the market which has the advantage of being in very good mechanical condition but which would benefit from some bodywork renovation work. Visible by appointment and on deck.
