The DL200 was the last of the great Lambretta scooters that rolled off of Innocenti’s production line in Milan. Produced from January 1969 until April 1971 a total of only 9350 DL200’s were made. The DL200 (known as the GP200 in the UK market) followed the SX200 and retained the engine prefix of SX200 before the serial number. There were however significant improvements to the engine over the SX including: improved crankshaft, a complete overhaul of the gearbox ratios and improved Ducati ignition. The iconic bodywork followed the trends of the day of the early 1970’s. The Nuccio Bertone design was more streamlined than its predecessors with a new 22/ 2 frame and rectangular headlight. Only a genuine Italian DL had the famous ink splat on the front of the sleek leg shield. In Italy the DL200 was only available in the trendy Ochre colour.

This is an extremely fine example and in exceptionally good condition in our opinion. It was acquired in 2006 after being imported in 2005 and reportedly only had one owner in Italy. It was then immediately sent to John Balcome at JB Tuning for a full nut and bolt bare metal restoration. For those in the know John Balcome is one of the most revered for this work in the UK. JB’s bill alone was £5, 617 (supplied) and with additional parts was easily over £6000 according to our vendor. The paint work was done by another top name in the trade Andy McIlvoy. On close inspection this is a restoration that stands way above what you will usually see. The scooter is standard as a DL200 save for 12v ignition and has had a new stator and the addition of a Scootopia carburettor. The original SHI/ 22 carburettor is supplied with the scooter. The panels are in our opinion all original with a great fit and the seat is the original Giuliari with a quality new cover. There are 2 sets of keys and the Toolbox lock and steering lock are original CAMA and FISAM. The original Veglia speedometer was retained. Comes with original Stadium side mirror. The scooter is only occasionally run but it is used and there are just a few tiny stone chips and panel wear but these do not detract from a very impressive scooter. The scooter is supplied with a large sheaf of parts invoices mainly for consumables showing good maintenance has occurred throughout. All tax discs and MOTs from 2006 to 2015 are also supplied. The scooter started up easily and readily and all appeared to function perfectly well at the time of consignment.
