For Sale: 1959 Wolseley 1550
This beautifully preserved 1959 Wolseley 1550 represents a rare opportunity to acquire one of BMC’s most refined post-war saloons. Produced between 1956 and 1958, the Wolseley was conceived as a more luxurious counterpart to the MG Magnette, sharing its proven mechanicals while offering superior levels of comfort and elegance.
The specification includes a polished walnut dashboard, matching door cappings, leather upholstery, and the marque’s signature illuminated grille badge. Beneath the bonnet lies the dependable BMC 1500cc B-series engine, now enhanced with an Alexander Engineering twin-SU carburettor kit and tubular exhaust system. A revised 4. 3 final drive differential delivers improved long-distance cruising ability, further elevating the car’s usability.
This particular example has covered just 22, 000 miles over the past 50 years, substantiated by 30 historic MOT certificates. Rather than a full restoration, it has enjoyed continuous, careful maintenance and sympathetic improvement, documented in a comprehensive history file with invoices amounting to approximately £9, 000.
