This lot will be auctioned via Iconic Auctioneers, The Iconic Motorcycle Sale at Shuttleworth - Summer 2025 on Sunday the 20th of July, Shuttleworth, Old Warden Park, Beds, SG18 9EP .
The 1971 AJS 250cc Stormer was designed to compete with other motocross bikes of the era, such as those from Husqvarna and was known for its unique frame design and strong performance
It featured a distinctive, large diameter, thin wall, single backbone frame, eccentric spindle swingarm adjustment and a full needle roller gearbox
It offered stable and predictable handling with a feeling of neutrality that helped riders maintain control even in challenging conditions and was designed to be light in the front, allowing for easy front-wheel lift with throttle input
This 1971 example has just benefited from a full rebuild with little or no use since
Invoices on file detail the engine and gearbox rebuild and a full suspension overhaul
Has formed part of a small private classic Collection in recent years with little use
Currently fitted with a modified Honda 500 rear silencer to aid noise reduction
Will be accompanied by a small selection of spares including two unused original pattern silencers
Believed to be eligible for various historic twin-shock scrambling/ trials events
Please note that the AJS is not road-registered
